Unveiling the Colours of Culture: Indian School Jalan Celebrates Two Days of Cultural Fiesta, Disha 2024, Where Talents Meet.
Art and cultural activities are the windows through which students view the world and explore their potential. Cultural activities provide opportunities to the students to express themselves, build confidence, increase capabilities to work in team and develop social skills that are essential for their overall development. Cultural activities are an important part of the education system. Indian school Jalan witnessed two days of cultural extravaganza – Disha 2024 on 31 August and 1 September 2024. The fiesta of cultural activities was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Krishnendu S, Director, Board of Directors Indian Schools in Oman and the Director in Charge of Indian School Jalan, in the presence of the Guest of Honour Adv. Saeed T P, President in Charge, School Management Committee and the distinguished members of School Management Committee.
The principal, Mrs. Seema Sreedhar, warmly welcomed the gathering. In her address, she emphasized the importance of cultural activities in education and urged the students to step out of the four walls of the classroom and explore the world.
In his inaugural speech, the chief guest, Mr. Krishnendu S, elaborated on how cultural activities influence a student’s life. He emphasized that these activities help students gain self-confidence and prepare them for the future. Around 175 students enthusiastically participated in Disha 2024, showcasing their creativity and talent in various events. Students from KG 1 to Class X actively participated in both group and individual events revealing their potential to the maximum.
Group events like Beat Busters – house wise group dance and Anamorphic 3D installation art showcased the spirit of teamwork. Regalia – fancy dress competition, witnessed various characters and famous personalities coming into life. Ethnic dance (folk dance) competition took the audience on a journey through the rich cultural heritage of our country.
The talented actors brought characters to life in Playlet, mono act performances, captivating the spectators with their expressions and emotions. Opera, the light vocal was equally mesmerizing, with soulful melodies.
The art competitions were a feast for the eyes, with students showcasing their skills in canvas painting and doodle art. The creativity and attention to detail in each piece were truly inspiring.
The two-days cultural fest, Disha 2024, was concluded with a valedictory function, where the winners of various competitions were awarded, grades based on their performance. It was truly a celebration of cultural activities that will remain long in the minds of the audience.
